For many years I felt myself fight with my ego. In the last few years I've come to the conclusion that we are all here to help each other; and that there is no competition. In my experience, our ego discovers a strategy very early on to stay safe and then it never learns any other way to be -- until we as adults recognize the difference between ego and higher self. Our ego wants to protect us. Our higher self wants to expand us. It's rarely the same thing. Sometimes we hurt others on our journey to fully embrace our gifts. Recently I covered a topic of "values systems" on the Get Real Revolution (http://www.getrealrevolution.com) as a way to help people understand that many times what one person says/does is just where they are in their drive for expression. I've often been completely transformed by your grace, your inner clarity and your willingness to be in truth no matter what. And I agree...gossip is not constructive. I've had to catch myself many times as I look for validation from a hurt to reel in the negative banter and just focus on me and my opportunity for growth.
